At just 11 years old, Sevi Brown of Guelph has represented her country numerous times worldwide, through dance.
Last month, while competing in Burgos, Spain in the Dance World Cup, Brown placed eighth in the world for her jazz solo.
In October, she will head to Prague, Czechia with Team Canada for the World Tap Championships. In November, she will travel to De Panne, Belgium, also as part of Team Canada, for the World Jazz and Contemporary Championships.
“I’m so excited and thankful for the chance to represent Canada at the World Tap Championship in Prague and the World Ballet, Jazz & Modern Contemporary Championship in Belgium later this year,” Brown said.
“I love being able to dance abroad. It lets you immerse yourself in different cultures, styles and traditions and it affects you artistically in the way you move and dance.”
October will be the third time Brown competes with Team Canada Tap.
And being at such a young age, her father Steve McIver feels it’s quite an incredible achievement.
“I am extremely proud. The biggest thing this has given Sevi, besides a sense of accomplishment, whether she wins or loses, is just knowing she accomplished something. That really means so much to her,” Brown said.
